Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre

For over 30 years Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre has been providing hands on specialised care and expertise to ensure our sick, injured and orphaned native animals are given a second chance.

Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is a non-profit organisation located at Lesmurdie that cares for sick, orphaned, injured and displaced wildlife. It is also their mission to assist in the preservation and captive breeding of rare and endangered species through the provision of facilities, volunteer rehabilitators and educational facilities. Founded by Lloyd and June Butcher in 1962 at their Gooseberry Hill property, in May 2010 the centre moved to a larger facility at the former Girl Guide campsite Paxwold in Lesmurdie. Kanyana has had to care for an increasing number of animals, with approximately 1886 animals representing 150 species admitted in 2011.
